Wild Video Shows Manhattan High-Rise Spewing Water Onto Street Below

Residents of New York City's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood were treated to quite the surprise around lunchtime on Thursday, April 4. Water was seen pouring down on the street from above; but it wasn't coming from the sky with the week-long rainy weather the city has been experiencing.

According to WNBC, the Fire Department of New York got a call around 12:15 p.m. about a water leak from a building at Eighth Avenue and West 42nd Street. Locals posted video of the incident on the Citizen app showing that it wasn't just a dribbling leak several stories above the street, but a powerful geyser spewing out of the side of the building.

Luckily, no injuries were reported and the waterfall didn't last long. The deluge had stopped flowing by 12:30 p.m. after building officials shut off the water.

It remains unclear what caused the watery mishap, but an investigation into the leak is ongoing. Judging by the video, it could have been anything from a burst water pipe to possible other issues with the building's water or plumbing systems.

This is a developing story. Check back here for any updates.
