Woman arrested after leaving kids in hot car in the Bronx: NYPD

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A woman was arrested and charged after leaving two kids in a car in the Bronx during sweltering hot weather on Thursday, police said.

The incident happened on West 183rd Street at 10:43 p.m., according to the NYPD. The two kids were left in the car while the temperature outside hovered in the mid-80s. Police did not disclose the age of the children.

In 95-degree heat, the temperature inside a car can shoot up to 130 degrees within 30 minutes, according to the National Weather Service.

Haiyah Agoro, 34, was charged with one count of acting in a manner injurious to a child under the age of 17, police said. Police did not disclose the relationship between Agoro and the children.
