Woman charged in alleged DUI rollover crash on Kings Highway in Stafford County

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said two women accused of driving drunk are lucky to be alive after a rollover crash on June 18.

Shortly before 5 a.m., a deputy responded to the 1300 block of Kings Highway for a crash. The caller informed SCSO that the car was off the roadway.

Deputies said based on evidence at the scene, a 20-year-old woman was driving west when she crossed the median. That’s when the car rolled and spun around.

Due to the extent of the crash, the car’s roof caved in, all airbags deployed and debris was scattered everywhere. As the deputy searched the scene, they allegedly discovered a Twisted Tea box in the debris.

According to the SCSO, the driver attempted to lie and stated “nobody” was driving. However, deputies said the driver and another woman passenger showed clear signs of intoxication.

After running the driver’s information, deputies learned that her license was revoked due to a previous DUI.

The driver was charged with:

  • Driving under the influence

  • DUI maiming

  • Driving with a revoked license

  • Reckless driving

SCSO said both women were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
