Woman facing DUI, eluding charges after Thornton police pursuit

DENVER (KDVR) — Police in Thornton jailed a woman on DUI, resisting and eluding charges after a pursuit on Friday.

Officers with the Thornton Police Department, with help from a Northglenn officer, tried to stop a small gray SUV they believed was associated with a woman wanted for attempted homicide of a Littleton police officer.

The Thornton Police Department said the driver refused to stop. They pursued until reaching the area near Colfax Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard where a PIT maneuver successfully stopped the vehicle.

The driver was taken into custody, but police later found out that she was not the person with the active warrant.

However, police said the driver, identified as 38-year-old Joanna Trippy, was booked into jail on charges of vehicular eluding, resisting arrest and DUI, among others that police did not specify.

Trippy was jailed in the Adams County Detention Facility.
