York Minster looking for apprentice stonemason
York Minster is searching for an apprentice stonemason with a head for heights to work on the 235ft (72m) landmark.
The apprentice is set to learn the ancient craft over four years alongside attending York College to attain stonemasonry qualifications.
The successful candidate would join a 200-strong team and help repair, restore and conserve the city's 800-year-old "gothic masterpiece of stone and stained glass", a York Minster spokesperson said.
The salary for the role started at £20,288, they added, and is funded by the Worshipful Company of Constructors charitable trust.
As well as traditional stonemasonry, the apprentice would learn digital skills including 3D scanning and computer-aided design.
There would also be the opportunity to spend time at partner cathedrals in Trondheim, Norway, Cologne in Germany and the Italian city of Milan.
The apprenticeship and college course would begin in September.
Alex McCallion, York Minster director of works and precinct, described it as an "exciting opportunity to join the workforce at one of the most iconic buildings in the country".
"We are deeply grateful to the trust for such generous investment in our work and very much look forward to welcoming the new apprentice into our workforce this autumn,” he said.
