Thousands of Verizon users report outage

(KRON) — Thousands of Verizon users reported an outage Thursday afternoon for their cell phone service, the company confirmed in a series of posts on X.

As of 3:35 p.m., 12,599 Verizon users reported an outage, according to Downdetector. Multiple Verizon users tell KRON4 they cannot make phone calls.

Later in the evening, the outage seemed to have been resolved for many of those users. As of 6:15 p.m., the number of reported outages has gone down to 1,139 users, Downdetector reports.

Verizon is currently experiencing “many outages in different areas,” according to a tweet posted by the wireless carrier.

“We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue,” a Verizon spokesperson said in an email to KRON4.
