The Los Angeles Dodgers rocked the Miami Marlins in an 8-2 win on Tuesday, making the most of their big swings by way of the long ball. Alongside Max Muncy's grand slam, infielder Gavin Lux powered his own two-run shot in the bottom of the third inning. With a runner on third, Lux hammered a slider at the knee into the right-field bullpen. Missing last year entirely, Lux hasn't quite found his swing to this point.
As George Bush once malapropped — fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice … won't get fooled again. Last week at Dodger Stadium, right-hander Jake Irvin held the Dodgers scoreless for six innings in a Washington Nationals victory. Getting a second look at Irvin Wednesday night at Nationals Park, the Dodgers roughed him up on their way to collecting 20 hits (including eight doubles) in an 11-2 rout of the Nationals.
