CLEVELAND — In a long season where the Twins attempt to keep themselves from getting too high when things are going well or too low when things are going poorly, they’ve certainly experienced both through their first 46 games. Heck, they experienced both during just the ninth inning on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland. After Byron Buxton, with some help from the Cleveland defense, used his legs ...
Will Brennan launched a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Guardians a 5-2 win against the Twins on Sunday at Progressive Field. With the game tied at 2-2, Andrés Giménez drew a one-out walk and advanced to second base on a wild pitch by Twins closer Jhoan Duran (0-2). Duran then intentionally walked Josh Naylor and set the stage for Brennan's heroics.
Jose Ramirez clubbed a two-out, tiebreaking solo homer in the eighth inning as the host Cleveland Guardians handed the reeling Minnesota Twins their fourth straight defeat, 3-2 on Friday. Moments after a video review overturned Andres Gimenez's steal of second base, ultimately resulting in the inning's second out, Ramirez took matters into his own hands. Facing Twins reliever Jhoan Duran (0-1), who hadn't allowed a run in seven innings over seven previous appearances this season, the Guardians star clubbed a hanger well into the right field seats for the lead as the home crowd broke into a frenzy.
