The Los Angeles Dodgers have dealt with the injury bug within their pitching staff early in the season, but they have been able to manage well and things are trending up. Blake Treinen recently returned to the bullpen, and he has looked fully back to form as an elite, high-leverage reliever. Walker Buehler has also made three starts since returning from a second Tommy John surgery with mixed results, but his latest outing was highly impressive with six shutout innings. As for some of the players still on the injured list, a few of those pitchers have been making notable progress.
Dodgers veteran left-handed starter Clayton Kershaw was seen throwing off the mound at Dodger Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kershaw has yet to make his debut this season but has been making his way through all the necessary steps. The last time Kershaw was on the mound was in the postseason against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Kershaw re-signed with the Dodgers this past offseason and whenever he does take the mound, it will be his 17th season with the organization.
Andy Pages had a walkoff single in the 11th inning for his fourth hit of the game and the Los Angeles Dodgers outlasted the Atlanta Braves 4-3 on Friday night. Gavin Stone pitched well and Teoscar Hernandez homered in a matchup of two of baseball’s best teams. Austin Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. homered for the Braves.
