For the Cleveland Cavaliers, a consistent theme that has unfortunately plagued them all season long is injuries. One of the more recent victims of the nagging injury bug is sharpshooting big man Dean Wade, who missed two months of action before taking the floor in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Boston Celtics. “That was tough,” Wade said following Cavs shootaround ahead of Game 4. While Wade's knee injury was originally listed as soreness, testing and analysis showed that he had suffered a sprain.
With the series tied at a game a piece, the Cavaliers returned to the friendly confines of Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse for Game 3 looking to feed off an electric home crowd. Led by Donovan Mitchell, who posted 33 points, and another strong outing from Evan Mobley, the Celtics proved to be too much for the Cavaliers in a 106-93 loss. It was Cleveland's first loss at home during the playoffs.
Kyrie Irving scored 22 points, including a running left-hander in the lane in the final minute to help Dallas hold on, and the Mavericks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-101 for a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals. Luka Doncic also had 22 points to go with 15 rebounds, and P.J. Washington scored 27, just two shy of his playoff high from the previous game.
